What We’re Looking For:

Iridium is seeking a motivated entry level IT Security Analyst I to join our team. As the IT Security Analyst I, you’ll contribute to the team that is responsible for the operations, troubleshooting, and analysis of the Iridium IT Security alerting and events at all corporate facilities. You’ll work with your team in cooperation with the IT Systems, Network, Storage and Database administrators to provide highly available and secure systems to support Iridium employees and business departments. What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to the team that is responsible for leveraging security data from internal and external sources to implement effective mitigations through the review of security event data for threat and potential attack activity
  • Leverage the Security Incident Event Management platform for investigations
  • Aid in developing scripting to automate certain analysis tasks
  • Follow consistent and repeatable methods to resolve security incidents
  • Automate the creation of reports, operational security metrics and other processes
  • Work collaboratively with outside vendors tasked with providing or augmenting Iridium IT Security
  • Coordinate system updates with administrators to ensure security vulnerabilities and risk remain as low as possible
  • Participate in design meetings, reviews, implementation projects and coordinate with other departments
  • Help with maintaining all network monitoring systems for assigned systems and participate in a rotating coverage schedule to provide off-hours support for all IT Security systems
  • Respond to alerts and follow instructions/procedures to take corrective action; provide root cause analysis
  • Maintain appropriate logs, databases and history to perform trending analysis and take proactive steps to ensure the proper operation of systems
  • Maintain appropriate tools to assist in the execution of duties
  • Maintain appropriate and current documentation processes and procedures
  • Suggest improvements and seek additional training to maintain skills necessary to execute duties

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/MIS or similar
  • General experience in/a basic knowledge of the following:
    • Firewalls, Web Proxies, IDS/IPS, and similar security systems with advanced knowledge of network security applications, tools, and methodologies
    • Security Incident Event Management
    • Windows or UNIX environments
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages and ideas clearly and effectively
  • Can cultivate meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team, while being open and responsive to constructive feedback as they guide and mentor you
  • The ability to think outside the box to help solve problems, with the humility to ask for help when needed
  • Adaptability to a dynamic environment and the readiness to take on any new tasks that are handed to you
  • A motivation to achieve outcomes and results
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks at once and completing them on time with mostly no errors
  • An eagerness to develop professionally, continuously learn, and share knowledge with others

 

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Security certifications and/or training
  • Experience in a telecommunications or other highly available environments

  • US Citizenship required

 

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in-person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
