Senior IT Support Specialist

The Senior IT Support Specialist provides administration, supports, and troubleshoots personal computers, software, printers and associated peripherals in a managed network environment to ensure a reliable computing system for staff. Provides direct support to a wide variety of end users to resolve specific problems.
Senior IT Support Specialist Principal Duties and Responsibilities: % of Time
40% Configures, installs, upgrades, moves, troubleshoots, and repairs PCs, laptops, printers, phones, and associated peripherals. Performs moves, adds, and changes of IT equipment as needed. Accepts delivery of equipment and supplies and performs necessary inventory and storage tasks. Maintains pool of loaner laptops and other equipment. Escalates and notifies other ITS staff as needed to resolve issues.
40% Diagnoses and resolves hardware and software problems for end-users in-person and on the phone. Documents solutions and procedures on the Intranet as needed. Monitors IT infrastructure and applications for service interruptions and security incidents. Assists ITS colleagues to resolve problems and implement solutions. Record all activities in ITS standard documentation and support systems.
10% Provides on-call emergency end-user support after-hours as scheduled.
10% Works to upgrade personal skills and knowledge, by attending courses and seminars and utilizing other approved learning tools.
Senior IT Support Specialist Education/Experience Requirements:
• Minimum four years experience providing desktop support on Windows operating systems in a managed desktop environment.
• Minimum two years experience working with Active Directory.
• At least one IT certification, MCDST, MCTS, MCP, MCSE or other certifications (such as A+, CCNA, HP) highly preferred.
• Familiarity with enterprise imaging and updating tools.
• The ability to work rotating shifts, providing on-call emergency end-user support after hours as scheduled.
Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
• Strong working knowledge of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting personal computers in a managed desktop environment.
• In depth technical knowledge of enterprise applications.
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to work well under pressure, facilitate solutions and meet deadlines and milestones for projects assigned.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including an ability to deal with people at various levels. Ability to work rotating shifts and work with little or no direct supervision.
