Regions Hospital is hiring a critical thinking, adaptable, and organized individual to join the Float Pool as a Nursing Unit Support Coordinator! Stepping into this role you’ll work with our Nurse Managers to ensure scheduling needs are met on our units using internal software systems. 


The responsibilities for this role include, development and implementation of RN, PCA, HUC, MHA, Managers, and Supervisors schedules using automated scheduling software, ensuring adequate levels are in accordance with established criteria, guidelines, and requirements based on current staff hired to a unit, working with the automated payroll system and process staff timecards, actively assisting Nurse Managers to secure replacements with unscheduled staff absences (other than the 24-hour period), and perform administration support and other related duties as assigned.


Work Schedule/FTE: .7 FTE (28 hours a week) working primarily days. This position requires you work some weekends.


Required Qualifications:


Education: High school diploma or equivalent


Experience: four (4) years secretarial or medical office experience. The following may substitute for the above:


1. Applicable certificate or degree may substitute for one (1) year experience or a combination of three (3) years office clerical and one (1) year of HUC or


2. Comparable medical experience may be considered. Previous scheduling and experience highly desirable.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Ability to function independently, organize and prioritize.

  • Knowledge of business English.

  • Knowledge of modern office procedures, practices and equipment.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain effective working relationships with management, department staff and ancillary personnel.

  • Knowledge of dynamics of group processes.

  • Ability to be flexible, patient and attentive to details.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information.

  • Ability to organize and maintain accurate electronic and paper filing systems.

  • Knowledge of personal computers and related applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.

  • Knowledge of MyTime software for scheduling and timecard editing.

  • Ability to adapt well to a fast-paced environment and stay calm under pressure.

  • Ability to manage time to meet scheduling deadlines.

  • Ability to make contingency plans well in advance to cover staff shortages due to planned leaves of absence.
