Job Summary

Provides high quality instruction in Information Systems and Technology Management with a focus in cybersecurity so that each student may meet learning outcomes.   Works with the dean and colleagues to improve student learning experiences.  Primarily teaches courses related to upper division cybersecurity including but not limited to offense/defense strategies, cyber forensics, critical infrastructure/architecture, and programming. May be assigned other instructional responsibilities as determined by the dean, which may include instruction in computer information systems or other related fields. 

Essential Duties

1. Teaches a range of college cybersecurity courses including for the Bachelor of Applied Science program. 
2. Creates a learning environment for students inclusive of diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds.
3. Collaborates with faculty and staff from other departments and divisions to promote communication, coordinate programs, and support student success.
4. Prepares clear learning outcomes for each course and inform students of learning outcomes in a course syllabus.
5. Participates in college service and activities outside direct instruction, such as registration, curriculum development, advising, strategic planning, and educational assessment.
6. Organizes and leads outreach activities and support student recruitment, placement, and retention.
7. Helps advance the role and goals of a comprehensive community college.
8. Posts and keeps office hours to be available to students for assistance outside the classroom.
9. Teaches at least one evening section per year, as needed.
10. Keeps professionally current by participating in professional development and other activities; maintains current credentials or licensures as required by program or accreditation.
11. Maintains active liaison with high schools, universities, business and industry or external agencies.
12. Completes instructional duties, reports, and paperwork assigned by the dean in a timely manner.
13. Attends division, department, and committee meetings and in-service programs.
14. Incorporates, as pedagogically appropriate, current technology in classroom, distance learning, laboratory and office environments.
15. Maintains and emphasizes safe working conditions and practices.
16. Complies with all Board policies and administrative regulations.

Additional Duties

1. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in information systems and technology management with an emphasis in cybersecurity or related field OR a master's degree and 24 graduate credit hours in cybersecurity or related field
• Two (2) years of work experience in cybersecurity

Additional experience may be substituted for the master’s degree requirement at the college’s discretion

Desired Qualifications

• Experience teaching at the college level

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to teach courses and utilize necessary technology for in-person and online instruction
• Ability to manage and engage students from diverse backgrounds and skill levels in the classroom, laboratory, and field environment
• Ability to manage student outcomes related to all classes taught
• Ability to teach courses in accordance with college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, course syllabi, and any departmental guidelines
• Knowledge of appropriate teaching methods and documentation

Work is typically performed in an indoor classroom or office environment on the Mt. Hood Community College Gresham Campus.

This position may be eligible for remote work on a hybrid basis. Any remote work requires prior approval and must comply with MHCC Remote Work policies and administrative regulations. Remote work must be within the states of Oregon or Washington.
