This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.
Applications received for this recruitment will be reviewed for Legal Authorization to work in the US. All applicants who pass the Legal Authorization review will be referred to the hiring department for consideration and an initial review of the application.
Applicants who meet the initial review requirements at the departmental level may be contacted by the hiring program for an interview. All applicants interviewed by the hiring program will be notified of their selection or non-selection by the department.

Positions assigned to this level perform professional Information Technology work ranging from the Entry/Trainee to the Independent Worker levels.
Security Analyst:
Confers with user community to understand security needs. Plans, develops, writes, implements and reviews security standards, procedures, and guidelines to safeguard systems and databases against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure. Assists in testing security products and control techniques. Assists in communicating security procedures to users. May identify regulatory changes that will affect data/information security and recommends appropriate changes.
Entry Level: Receives on-the-job training in the principles, concepts, work processes, methods and techniques fundamental to the Security Analyst series. Assignments range from the simple to the complex, and are selected and designed to develop the employee for progression to the Independent Worker level.
Independent Worker Level: Performs moderately complex professional work in accordance with established policies, guidelines, and procedures. Assignments routinely encompass problems of average difficulty and complexity, requiring the independent application of technical knowledge, skills and sound judgment in applying fundamental principles and techniques, etc. in the area of Security Analyst.

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Basic Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Excess Information Technology Experience as described below or any other responsible administrative, professional or analytical work experience which provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.
Specialized Experience: Zero (0) to Two (2) years of professional Information Technology (IT) experience in the Security Analyst specialty area or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Job Related Competencies Required: Depending upon the level you are interested in and being considered for, applicants must possess experience and/or training which demonstrates a basic understanding of at least some of the following competencies: Customer Focus, Initiative, Reading, Writing, Oral Communication, Decision Making, Problem Solving, Reasoning, Information Management, Interpersonal Skills, Technical Competence, and Organizational Awareness.
