Position Summary: This position is located in the Administration / Information Technology (IT) Department at the Northeastern Tribal Health System, Miami, Oklahoma. This person serves as the Help Desk Technician for the facility.
Position responsibilities:
- Provides "first-tier" support to end users hardware by receiving support requests from users having problems using computer software and hardware or inquiring how to use specific software.
- Reviews procedures used by user to determine source of error. Answers inquires by providing problem resolution.
- Interacts with other Information Technology staff to restore service and/or identify and correct core problems.
- Determines whether problem is caused by hardware such as network adapter, printer, cables, or telephone.
- Resolves core problems behind user complaints.
- Simulates or recreates user problems to resolve operating difficulties.
- Recommends systems modifications to reduce user problems.
- General travel to attend meetings, seminars, and to provide technical assistance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential skills and experience:
- Knowledge of computer and telecommunications hardware and related software and a working knowledge of the design techniques for the development and implementation of information systems.
- Must have knowledge of current healthcare industry Privacy Act and security requirements according to the HIPAA guidelines.
- Incumbent must have knowledge of networking principles.
- Incumbent must have experience and knowledge of Windows desktop and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- Detailed and timely documentation of tickets and tasks.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- A+ certifications or equivalent industry recognized helpdesk certification
- 3 years of experience in the IT field
- Associateβs degree in Information Technology, or related field.
- IHS related knowledge - knowledge of IHS Resources & Patient Management System (RPMS), and the IHS Electronic Health Record (EHR) highly desirable.
