Education

The Barowsky School of Business is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a course in the Master of Science in Cybersecurity program during the spring of 2025 (January-March 2025). The class meets on Mondays online.  




Responsibilities



  • Teach a three-unit course at the graduate level

  • Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students

  • Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework

  • Uphold academic performance standards and integrity

  • Instructors are required to work with the School to complete assessments of the course for AACSB Assurance of Learning purposes


Course Description



  • MSC-5704-1 Managing Human Risk: Building a Security-Based Culture (1/21/2025-3/5/2025; Mondays online from 6:00 pm-10:00 pm Pacific) -- In this course, students will confront the reality that people are often the weakest link in the security chain, serving as the primary target for social engineering and phishing attacks. This course offers essential lessons and a roadmap to construct a mature awareness program for organizations and workforces, generating measurable impact. Students will acquire key concepts and skills to cultivate a secure culture through a robust awareness security program that transcends mere compliance, focusing on tangible behavior change. The curriculum provides a comprehensive understanding of the human element in organizations and its profound impact on cybersecurity. Discussions will explore associated challenges and opportunities, addressing various technology groups including users, developers, supporters, and administrators. Topics span human risk, insider threat, maturity models and levels, awareness, education, training, and the prevalent tactics, techniques, and procedures employed in today's human-based attacks.


Required Qualifications



  • Master’s degree in Technology, Information Security/Cybersecurity or a closely related field

  • Professional work experience in Information Risk Management, Leading and/or Managing People in Cybersecurity/IT Industry

  • Google Suite: Docs, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, and Slides

  • Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Zoom

  • Digital Camera

  • Must be a California resident


Preferred Qualifications



  • PhD degree in Technology, Information Security/Cybersecurity or a closely related field.

  • Teaching experience at the graduate level, especially in business, IT/Cybersecurity, human resources, or organizational behavior courses

  • Industry Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CISA, and others,

  • ISO/NIST/COSO/PCI-DSS Risk Management standards/frameworks experience

  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) experience

  • Sr Management engagement, advising on cyber risks, decision making

  • Industry experience in human resource management, organizational leadership, or risk management

  • Experience in assessing, managing, or mitigating human risk in organizations (e.g., through compliance, ethics programs, crisis management, etc.)
