Responsibilities






THIS IS A CASUAL POSITION WORKING A MAXIMUM OF 900 HOURS PER CALENDAR YEAR.

 

Undergraduate/Graduate CONCISE Cyber Security Interns will work under the direct supervision of a manager & mentor and will be provided with hands-on participation in ongoing projects at one of the most unique experimental sites in the United States. The internship will be located at our North Las Vegas complex as well as other NNSS facilities.

 

We are looking for qualified and motivated students in:

  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems & Management Information Systems (MIS)
  • Information Technology
  • Cybersecurity

Duties and Responsibilities (may include and will vary depending on which department you are assigned to):

  • Analyze cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, risks and develop mitigation strategies and preferred solutions.
  • Perform system scans and Log analysis.
  • Perform system life cycle support analysis.
  • Support/perform other cybersecurity /Information Technology related tasks as directed.
  • Publish and present CONCISE Cybersecurity R&D report.

Qualifications






Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Completion of the first year of a related degree program at The University of Texas at San Antonio, The University of Nevada Las Vegas, North Carolina A&T, and Savannah State University.
  • Must be actively enrolled in school.
  • Must have and maintain a 3.2 cumulative GPA for Undergrad and 3.5 for Graduate MS/PhD. (upload of current transcripts required)
  • Must have:
    • Planning/organizing skills and initiative
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Able to follow directions, both written and verbal, and work independently to meet deadlines and commitments as well as part of a team.
    • Team player with good customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills are desired, including MS Office and computer programming.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel preferred.
  • Experience installing hardware and software for personal computing needs preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills desired.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a professional, effective manner.
  • The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada or other NNSS facilities.
  • Pre-placement drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

 

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’
