Our Legal Department is hiring a Trade Compliance Analyst with knowledge of U.S. export/import regulations on-sit at our corporate headquarters campus in Midtown Cleveland . If you thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing, and collaborative environment this may be a great fit!


 


This is a high visibility position with the opportunity to partner not only in the Legal Department, but across the business and other corporate departments in the Company. You will report to Applied’s Assistant General Counsel at our corporate headquarters in Midtown Cleveland.


 


What you’ll do:


Support Company’s import and export activities through monitoring, maintaining, and executing the Company’s trade compliance program, and identifying and mitigating potential risks. Ensure Company’s compliance with import and export laws by applying sound judgment to:



  • Support daily export activity by providing guidance on export requirements, assessing documentation to identify and mitigate potential risks, and facilitating release of export orders

  • Conduct denied party screenings and research potential matches in the Company’s restricted party screening tool

  • Complete timely and accurate AES filings with attention to detail by researching products to determine U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Schedule B, and ECCN classifications

  • Conduct analysis required to qualify products for free trade agreement programs, such as USMCA   



  • Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining processes, tools and forms required to support export operations and ensure compliance with laws and regulations

  • Assist with export and import compliance program development, implementation, training, and related projects as required


 


Qualifications:



  • Working knowledge of US export and/or import regulatory compliance, including Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC), and other applicable regulations



  • Working knowledge of HTS, Schedule B, ECCN classifications and/or denied party screening preferred

  • Written and verbal communication skills, including good English grammar

  • Computer knowledge, including MS Office products



  • Ability to communicate findings and translate data into understandable formats and documentation

  • Attention to detail and sense of urgency

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work both independently and as a team member in a fast paced, fluid culture

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for formal degree
