Work Location: Hybrid/Washington, DC.
We are seeking a motivated and customer-oriented cybersecurity professional to support our Department of State client. The candidate will support maturation of the customer's cybersecurity program to enact cyber policy, roles, operations, and compliance.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with cybersecurity SMEs to develop comprehensive documentation of policies, processes, and procedures. Ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to government standards at all times.
- Create engaging and informative training materials tailored to specific cybersecurity roles (SO, ISSO, ISSM, etc.). Design materials that effectively convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Document existing cybersecurity workflows with precision. Analyze processes to identify areas for improvement and streamline documentation.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of compliance tracking tools for artifacts such as POA&M, ATO, and ISA. Support timely submission and risk mitigation efforts.
- Demonstrate familiarity with Department of State IT Governance Framework. Apply this understanding to create well-structured and consistent documentation aligned with the framework.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, or related field OR Equivalent experience in these areas will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Technical Writer with a proven track record in documenting cybersecurity or software development processes.
- Experience with US government cybersecurity standards, regulations, and documentation requirements.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, software development principles, and technical terminology.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and concise language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certifications: Technical writing or cybersecurity-related certifications are a plus.
- DOS FAM/FAH Experience: Prior experience using FAM/FAH to document processes and procedures.
- Agile Understanding: Familiarity with Agile methodologies and their integration with documentation processes.
Clearance Requirement: Active Secret clearance.
