Duties


  • Provides leadership and oversight to all enterprise risk management activities, including the continuous monitoring of all systems, information assurance, and audit programs.
  • Defines and manages information technology (IT) and/or cybersecurity related programs and/or projects, or other area of responsibility, to include strategic direction for program initiatives and activities, personnel, and infrastructure.
  • Directs administrative activities (such as budget, management analysis, or personnel), and is responsible for program/project resources, acquisition activities, workforce development plans, budget forecasts, and initiatives.
  • Collaborates with key (internal / external) stakeholders to design/integrate a risk management strategy that outlines the vision, mission, and goals that align with the organization's cyber security strategic plan and oversees policy standards.
  • Oversees implementation strategies to ensure procedures and guidelines comply with cyber security policies.
  • Advises senior management (e.g., CIO, CISO) on risk levels and changes affecting the organization's cybersecurity posture, and cost/benefit analysis of information security programs, policies, processes, and systems.
  • Provides oversight and support for the information assurance program , executing and adopting agile principles throughout the agency, maintains regulatory requirements, and reviews changes for security implications and activities.

Basic Requirements: All applicants must meet the following basic requirements. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.


GS-15: You qualify at the GS-15 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:


  • Monitoring operations and systems to ensure compliance with procedures, regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Participating in standardization, modernization, and strategic planning of programs and/or operations.
  • Developing program policies and procedures that align to strategic goals of the agency.
  • Planning, evaluating, and leading projects or teams, such as assigning work, setting priorities, budgeting, and providing feedback on work assignments.
  • Evaluating work performance of subordinates providing advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Understanding, explaining, and presenting persuasive complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
